Known as “Land of Maharajas”, Rajasthan is the largest state in India in terms of its coverage area. It hosts Jaipur as its state capital region. It shares its border with Pakistan on its north-west side, to the north side, it has Punjab, Haryana & UP to its northeast, to its southeast Madhya Pardesh and to its southwest, it has Gujrat.

For all the magnificent palaces, monuments and forts, the aura of Rajasthan are defined by its vibrant culture and rich heritage of this grand state. The Rajasthan state is also famous for its vibrant fairs and festivals, which work as a driving force behind its rich heritage. Some of the famous fairs are Jaipur Literature Festival, Jaipur Heritage International Festival, Desert Festival, Pushkar Festival, Jodhpur Flamenco Gypsy Festival, Urs at Ajmer, Teej and many many more add an extraordinary experience to make a memorable visit here once in life.

Different communities exist in Rajasthan and each one has its own wedding style, traditions, and customs in their wedding ceremonies. As Rajput and Marwari are the prime communities in Rajashtan state, the basic ceremonies are the same for every community, it may be somewhat different that depends on the community to the community. For classic Rajasthani wedding ceremonies, you must visit Rajput and Marwari community weddings. The expressions and celebrations are so much rich at their weddings. Normally weddings are extended up to 3-4 days which are very bright and vivid in nature.

The main wedding customs in Rajasthan among Rajputs are: Tilak Ceremony (same as Tikka in other northern states in India), Ganpati Sthapana(invocation of Lord Ganesh and take their blessings), Pithi Dastoor(same as Haldi rasam in other northern state ceremonies), Mehfil (as sangeet in Punjab and Haryana), Mahira Dastoor(exchange of gifts between bride and groom families), Palla and Janew Ceremony(when groom family visits the bride with gifts, clothing, and jewelry), Nikasi(sehra ceremony of groom mainly by his sisters), Varmala and Pheras(at wedding chair and Mandap), Satapadi(bride and groom take seven steps together), are the common ceremonies among Rajputs.

Among Marwaris, Byah Haath(home rituals by singing traditional songs in front of bride and groom), Bhaat Nyotana(the invitation letter send to groom by bride family to bring their baraat), Nandi Ganesh Puja(invocation of Lord Ganesha), Thamb Puja(symbolizing joining of two families), Telbaan(Haldi), Kunvara Manda Yagna(blessings for upcoming ceremonies), Gharva(invocation of Goddess Paravati), Korath(Baraat from groom side) are some of the rituals among Marwari communities.
